31st May 2012

we have had the most marvellous weather for the last two weeks, but I went out to the cows this afternoon and they were all lying down, which means rain is not far away...

Bluebell is the next to fall in love, with Samson the bull!  He is a lucky chap

29th May 2012

Sabine and her family have come to stay at Sutton Mawr. This afternoon we collected all the eggs and they help me put them in trays and stamp them.

Tomorrow I am hoping the kids can do it all by themselves.

such a lovely evening that all the guests ate out in the courtyard.

28th May 2012

You may of noticed in last weeks photos, that not all the sheep were sheared. I couldn't catch one and Dennis the ram was to heavy to turn over.

So I called in the heavy weights, Ross and Martyn, who helped me through it.  In fact, Martyn had a brain wave. Shear the Dennis standing up. He's not just a pretty face!

Not a bad job.

27th May 2012

Another brilliant morning. Jo has been staying at Sutton Mawr and all her hens. They were a really good punch. They all went into Cardiff last night to experience a proper Welsh night out in the capital.

The weather was too nice to eat breakfast inside, so we layed out the table in the courtyard.  They seemed to have a lovely time.

I think Samson the bull, has now fallen in love with Trio.  He does swap and change!

26th May 2012

The olympic torch comes to Barry. There was a fantastic turn out, and great atomsphere.

The above photo is of Sam Adamson carrying the torch, must be a proud moment. Well done Barry for getting up at the crack of dawn to cheer the torch on its way round Britian.

25th May 2012

Its come round again, Shearing!  Poor sheep, last year they looked horrendous.  So  just as I had finished my third sheep , when I turned round to see, Martyn my nieghbour quietly watching me.

Quickly I managed to get Martyn in with me and before long he was showing me the right way to shear a sheep. I was so impressed, Martyn hasn't sheared a sheep for 20 years and he nailed it.  I am now an expert, and those poor first three sheep will have to be done again.

Samson the bull arrived today he was very happy to be with our girls again.. I think Poppy is in love!

20th May 2012

We had a real blitz on the garden this week. Weeded every bed, mowed the lawn. Planted up the pots. Here are a few pictures of the finished product. The sad news is we still have masses to do. We had the Vesely family to stay, they were mad keen to meet all the animals, and I had been so busy that Thayer had to collect 2 days worth of eggs! They loved it so much they even helped clean them and tray them up. perfect!

We scooped up two lambs for a cuddle... and  the Galllenzi kids Eleonora and Emiliano, were mad on the animals.  They also visited the  nearby hawking centre which they really enjoyed and handled some birds of prey.

Tomorrow they are off into Cardiff to experience it's night life..

5th May 2012

Fran survived the night life in Cardiff, they had a brilliant time at Tiger Tiger. They were looking a little tried this morning..

On 5th May 2012, Dave Guarrel set out on a very long walk – a complete circumnavigation of Wales via the brand-new Wales Coast Path and the Offa’s Dyke Trail, totaling over 1027 miles.  I hope to raise at least £20,000 for Cancer Research Wales.  The walk is in memory of his father, Gerry, who died in May 2011 following a battle with stomach cancer, and who was instrumental in the creation of the Wales Coast Path.  The Wales Coast only open yesterday, so hopefully, Dave will be the first person to complete it.

So his first night was staying at Sutton Mawr.. Good luck. You can follow Dave on his big adventure on twitter@waleswalk1027, and http://www.walkwales1027/
